Renowned Classic 105 presenter Maina Kageni sparked a fight with Nairobi Gubernatorial aspirant Miguna Miguna after he turned the latter’s lewd comments, which were directed to Esther Passaris during the JKL show, into a discussion on Friday morning.
During the JKL show on Wednesday night, Miguna told Passaris that “You (Passaris) believe that you are so beautiful, everybody wants to r@pe you.”
Kageni seemed to have touched a live wire after asking the ladies whether they had men in their lives who are like Miguna Miguna, who can’t make a point without insulting women.
“This morning, we need to discuss Miguna Miguna. If you watched him at JKL, you will realise that some men cannot communicate without being rude,” Kageni stated.
He added, “He can’t make a point without insulting. Who insults a woman like that? Girls, do you have a Miguna Miguna in your life?
In a rejoinder, Miguna seemed irked by Maina’s comments and immediately responded to him on twitter.
“@ItsMainaKageni>You are completely out of order and context. It’s your sanctimonious condescension which is sexist. Women are human beings!”
The whole topic stemmed from Miguna’s encounter with Passaris on JKL show where they had been invited to speak about the issues they would address if elected as Nairobi governor.
Miguna passed on the opportunity to question Passaris, adding that he was not interested in attacking the aspiring governor.
Unlike Miguna, Passaris asked Miguna how he could turn against ODM leader Raila Odinga by documenting in one if his books, an incident where the Opposition leader cried after a frustrating meeting with former President Mwai Kibaki during the coalition government.
Miguna responded with guns blazing, describing Passaris as a “socialite bimbo- whose only claim to fame was by looking for billionaire sponsors”.
From there onwards, the conversation took an ugly turn with Miguna hurling sexually aggressive comments at his political rival.
The show later became a subject of heated debates, both on social media and mainstream media, with Mr Koinange being blamed for allowing Miguna to disparage Passaris on Live TV.
In his defence, however, Koinange said that his main purpose on JKL was to show the viewers the real character of their leaders for them to make wise choices during the election.
