LOONILIEST HOUSE IN THE WORLD AND WHY IT WAS BUILT THERE

Do you hate your neighbours? Well, what if you didn’t have any people living next door to begin with? Or do you just hate socialising in general? Because we have the perfect thing for you to know about

A beautiful house on a remote island which is surrounded by the sea, also known as the the ‘world’s loneliest house’ is going viral. Loneliest? I say, loveliest!

It is located empty island of Ellioaey in Iceland. This island is far from civilization being surrounded by the ocean on all sides. The only way a person can access this island is either through a boat or through a helicopter

According to the reports by various media reports, the remote island has been completely deserted since years and there are a number of theories that have been expounded regarding the same.

According to one rumour, the house was built by a billionaire who planned to move to the remote island in the event of a zombie apocalypse.

Other people suggested a religious hermit may be living there.

Another popular theory – which was later debunked – said that the Icelandic government had gifted the island to singer Bjork.

The house in the picture was built by the Elliðaey Hunting Association in the 1950s. It was a base to hunt puffins which feast on the abundant supply of fish in the waters below. The property serves as a hunting base for the group to support their activities on the island.

The house has no amenities like electricity, running water or indoor plumbing but it does have a sauna which is run by a natural rainwater collecting system.

While the truth behind the house was rather disappointing for netizens, many had alternate suggestions for the house.
