Kapenguria, Kenya: At least five police officers are feared dead after a gunman attacked the Kapenguria Police Station in West Pokot County.
The attack prompted a siege that saw Special Forces sent to the scene. A senior officer whom locals said is the Officer Commanding Station is among those injured and the suspect was identified as Omar A suspect identified as Omar Eurmod had been arrested at Nakuiit on suspicion of being a terrorist.
Police booked the suspect in custody without searching him and knowing he had a gun. It was then he turned on the officers on duty fatally wounding the five in an attack. More details of the incident remained scanty but Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet confirmed the active shooting, saying more officers have been deployed to subdue the suspect.
