Kenya’s top constitutional and public office holders receive millions of shillings in monthly remuneration, with the President ranking as the highest-paid state officer, according to figures attributed to the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
The President earns KSh1.4 million per month, placing the Head of State at the top of the salary scale for senior state officers.
The Chief Justice follows closely, earning KSh1.3 million monthly, while the Deputy Chief Justice receives KSh1,233,535.
The Deputy President earns KSh1,227,188 per month, while Supreme Court judges receive a monthly salary of KSh1,218,535.
Parliamentary leaders are also among the country’s highly compensated public officials. The Speakers of the National Assembly and Senate each earn KSh1.16 million every month.
Meanwhile, Court of Appeal judges receive KSh1,122,759 monthly, while the Deputy Speakers of the National Assembly and Senate earn KSh928,000.
Other senior offices also attract substantial monthly remuneration. Governors, Cabinet Secretaries, the Attorney General and the IEBC chairperson each earn KSh924,000 per month, according to the figures.
A High Court judge earns KSh907,279 monthly, placing the judiciary prominently among the country’s highest-paid public institutions.
The figures offer a glimpse into the remuneration attached to some of Kenya’s most senior constitutional and public offices. They also highlight the significant financial compensation associated with positions that carry major responsibilities in the running of the country.
While salaries are only one component of public officials’ overall remuneration packages, the figures provide an indication of the monthly pay attached to Kenya’s top state offices.
