Kisumu County police commander Nelson Mugweru Njiri has been promoted and moved to the Kenya Airports Authority as the General Manager, Security barely a week after a protester was shot dead during anti IEBC protests in the region. Although police spokesman says he has been demoted, reliable sources reveal he had been surely promoted and will be earning more than before.
Despite the police saying that the protester died after being hit by a blunt object, autopsy reports confirmed that Mr. Fredrick Otieno succumbed to bullet injuries. His family had since then called for action to be taken against the officers in charge.
Mr Njiri will be replaced by Mwea East Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Titus Yoma who has been promoted and named the Kisumu County Commander.
