Chaos broke out in Kisumu county after irate youth stormed into a women’s peace meeting .The youth were allegedly searching for people buying Identification Cards (ID) from locals in the city .Police officers were forced to use teargas to disperse the youth who lit bonfires threatening to attack the women.
Over 200 women were in Jumuia Hotel in the morning for an inter-religious meeting dubbed ‘Nyanza Women of Faith’ but were said to have been undertaking a vote buying exercise.
According to Pastor Alice Owour of Deliverance Church, the youths made away with their personal effects and even threatened to rape some of the people.
This follows weeks of reports that Jubilee was funding strategic politicians in Raila strongholds to buy off IDs with the price started from as 5,000KES.
The plan was to ensure they have purchased at least 1.5million IDs which would mean reducing the margin of votes Raila would likely have received by that margin.
Nasa leaders claim the Jubilee administration is using the provincial administration and others to buy IDs from voters in Nyanza and Western regions, the main strongholds of its candidate Raila Odinga.
