If you are 2015 KCSE candidate better be revising. After widespread cheating in 2015 KCSE exams, the ministry of education had earlier directed all universities to set Merit exam purely practical for all 2015 KCSE candidates who qualified for regular university programme. Now the examination departments from JKUAT, UON and Egerton university have confirmed the plan is underway for all students who will admitted in September 2016 intake will sit for comprehensive exam to prove candidates worthy. Other universities are likely to follow suit in few days to come to comply with the directive.
This is one of the many moves by new CS Fred Matiangi to Sanitise the education sector after recently banning visiting days and prayers days during third time for all school to curb cheating. However the minister has been under heavy pressure over the recent move as stakeholders think its not sufficient enough to bring change.
Students who have seen complained warned the CS that the campus merit exam will leak even just like KCSE and the move wont help. many of them however say that they are not ready to sit for another exam as they have already formatted.
We want to ask you readers does such move help to curb examination cheating in Kenya ??
