Safaricom has rolled out a new service that will see customers use Bonga Points to pay for essential goods and services.
The campaign, ‘Bonga For Good’ is a response by the company to the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the biggest being reduced income to the majority of Kenyans.
With the Safaricom Bonga Popote, one is eligible to purchase items at Naivas, Nakumatt, Tuskys, Kilimall, Savanis, Mr. Price and other outlets country wide.
The bonga points can also be used to fuel cars at Total petrol station and Shell.
HOW TO PAY USING BONGA POINTS
This can easily be done following the below simple steps.
1. Dial *126# using your phone and select Lipa na Bonga Points.
2. Select Buy Goods or paybill
3. Enter Till Number
4. Enter Amount
5. Enter your Bonga Pin
6. You will then be prompted to accept or decline the payment
7. After accepting you will receive a message confirming the transaction.
HOW MUCH IS ONE WORTH ARE BONGA FOR GOODS
Customers will redeem 1 Bonga Point for 30 cents, a 50% increase from the previous 20 cents per point, at over 140,000 Lipa Na M-Pesa merchants countrywide for the next 30 days.
Merchants accepting Lipa Na Bonga will receive a cash equivalent of the points redeemed, making it a normal business transaction.

Don’t worry if you don’t enough points! You can pay part in M-Pesa at first and pay balance part in Points.
Customers can redeem as little as one shilling via Lipa Na Bonga at key merchants including Naivas Supermarket, Tuskys and Eastmatt.
