A Nairobi father is living through every parent’s worst nightmare after returning home from work to discover that his three young children and the nanny he had entrusted with their care had vanished without a trace.
Sylvester Musyoka Mutua, a resident of Kawangware, Nairobi, reportedly arrived at his home on the evening of Thursday, August 7, 2026, expecting to find his children waiting for him.
Instead, he was met by an unsettling silence.
His eight-year-old daughter, Zanellah Ndunge, and his six-year-old twins, John Waydens and Zoella Hellen Mbatha, were nowhere to be found.
The children had disappeared alongside their nanny, Maureen Asiko Omboto, who had been employed by Musyoka since February 1, 2026, to help care for the family while his wife remained abroad.
The sudden disappearance left Musyoka deeply distressed. He immediately alerted neighbours, hoping that the children and their caregiver might have been taken somewhere nearby or that someone had information about their whereabouts.
A search was launched that stretched late into the night, but the efforts did not yield any answers.
Days later, the mystery remained unresolved.
According to a Facebook post shared by Anyamah Wa Anyamah on August 13, 2026, the family had endured a painful week without knowing where the three children or their nanny were.
Musyoka was reportedly struggling to cope with the disappearance. The post stated that the father had been unable to sleep, eat properly or report to work since his children went missing.
For much of the year, Musyoka had been single-handedly raising the three children while his wife was outside the country. He had hired Maureen to assist with household responsibilities and help ensure that the children were properly cared for as he continued with his employment.
The children are pupils at Faith Cathedral Academy in Kawangware. Zanellah is in Grade 3, while her six-year-old twins, John and Zoella, are in Grade 1.
Their disappearance has therefore left not only their family but also members of their school and local community deeply concerned.
Efforts to reach Maureen have reportedly been unsuccessful. Her phone numberhas allegedly gone unanswered, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the children’s whereabouts.
For Musyoka, each passing day has brought more questions and anguish.
Those familiar with the father describe him as devastated by the disappearance but still clinging to hope that his children are alive and safe and that they will eventually return home.
