The Cooperative Bank scholarship Foundation is the Co-operative Bank’s vehicle for social responsibility. The current flagship project of the Foundation is an education scholarship scheme for bright but less endowed children who are facing difficulties in paying school fees for secondary education.
The Scholarship Program began with the Form One class of 2007. The program will continue in the days ahead, to enable the children achieve their full potential.
This year’s Co- operative intake of 655 Form One beneficiaries is the largest secondary education scholarship scheme in Kenya today. The bank’s Group Managing Director and CEO Dr. Gideon Muriuki said, “Of the 655 new cooperative bank scholarships to Form One students, 420 were awarded by the bank’s Regional Delegates’ Forums and the remaining 235 scholarships, at 5 per county, awarded by County Governments in all the 47 counties.” The bank is educating a total of 159 students, selected from the top performing beneficiaries of the secondary school scholarships, through their entire university education.
The top 28 in the Form Four examination each year are granted an additional full scholarship for their university education.” University scholarships are awarded to the best performing students from each region.
COOPERATIVE BANK SCHOLARSHIPS APPLICATION REQUIREMENT
1. Result slip
2. Copy of birth certificate
3. Form 1 admission, including fees structure
4. A brief statement indicating why the nominee/family is deemed needy and the Co-operative Society with which the parent(s) is/ were associated.
5. Any other document (e.g payslip, death certificate, etc) which may aid the process.
COOPERATIVE BANK FOUNDATION ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Co-op Foundation sponsorship program supports secondary school thus helping families and their children fulfill their dreams and have a future. For $1,165 per year for 4 years, a high school sponsorship provides support to a needy qualified and carefully selected students with full tuition and boarding fee. The support also covers the costs of school uniform, books and stationary
Sponsorship is open for both public and private secondary schools
Student must have qualified with a minimum of 350 points in the standard eight final examinations
Student must be from a needy family that is unable to support secondary education.
At least one of the parents of the student must be or have been a member of a Co-operative society
