The late Joseph Ole Nkaissery and George Saitoti were powerful people in the Government. Their death was major blow as nobody saw it coming.
George Saitoti died on Sunday 10 June 2012 at around 9:00 am when an helicopter belonging to the Kenya Police Air Wing registration 5Y-CDT, carrying him and the Assistant Minister for Internal Security, Joshua Orwa Ojode, crashed in the Kibiku area of Ngong forest, killing them and four others.
Nkaissery was admitted to Karen Hospital in Nairobi at around 1am after reportedly complaining of sharp chest pains before collapsing at his home in Karen. He was pronounced dead at around 1.45am on 8 July 2017, with post-mortem results showing that he had suffered from an acute myocardial Infarction.
SIMILARITIES BETWEEN NKAISSERY AND SAITOTI
1. Died aged 67 years
At the time of their deaths, the two leaders were 67 years old and were approaching their 68th birthday.
2. They were both powerful Ministers
Both Prof Saitoti and Nkaisery died as Ministers for Internal Security and coordination. The Ministry of Internal Security is one of the most crucial and powerful ministries in any country.
3. Powerful Leaders of Maasai Community
Prior to the deaths, the two had been installed as Maasai elders and were tasked with giving the community directions on key issues including politics.
4. Died before Elections
George Saitoti died 30 days before elections while Nkaissery died 9 months before election.
5. They both died on weekend
Saitoti passed away on Sunday while Nkaissery died early on Saturday
6. Sudden Death
Both of them died abruptly having not shown any signs of illness.
George saitoti died in Plane Crash in Ngong while Nkaissery suddenly collapsed at his home in Karen and was declared dead upon arrival at hospital.
