There is no doubt the world has nice people still existing. If you cant find one, then be one. One of the people who moved people’s hearts is Jacqueline Nytepi Kiplimo, a Kenyan Marothon Runner.
In 2010, Jacqueline Nytepi Kiplimo, a Kenyan woman was ranked second place in the Zhengkai International Marathon in China . She was supposed to be the first place in that marathon but then she chose to win the hearts of everybody instead of claiming the grand prize.
This particular runner had no arms below the elbows, and didn’t have the ability to grab water bottles being handed out. he was also suffering from dehydration mid race.
The act of unselfishness happened at only at the 10-kilometer mark of the race.she accompanied him to the 38-kilometer mark (a marathon is 42.2km), until she felt he could finish under his own power.
This slowed her time. She came in 2nd in the race not only costing her the win but also the $10,000 cash prize. It’s not all about winning.
Jacqueline Nytepi Kiplimo actually won the hearts of many people for the act. Not so many people can do that.
What did you think of Jacqueline’s actions during the race? If you had a chance to win a marathon (and think about what that really means for a moment), would you give that up to help a stranger?
