Street children are poor or homeless children who live on the streets of a city, town, or village. Homeless youth are often called street kids or street child.
Every street child has a story to tell some of them were abondoned by family and there was no one to take care of them.
Street children are often subject to abuse, neglect , exploitation, or, in extreme cases, murder by “clean-up squads” that have been hired by local businesses or police.
Meet Edward Julius Mwai who was an only son raised by a single mother, and they lived just the two of them. He never met his father. He remembers that his mother was depressed and when he was 10 years old his mother succumbed to a sudden stroke.
Her mum was buried one week later at Nkuru cemetery. Edward’s 3 aunties, sisters abandoned him at the cemetery, immediately after the funeral. None of them were willing to take care of him so he went back home alone. it’s a puzzle he has never understood to date.
A week later, the landlord evicted him and confiscated all household items because his mother had rent arrears of 5 months. he had no options available to him anymore.
He became a street child where he engaged in illegal business like drug peddling to earn living a just tender age.

He was arrested severally and had near death experiences until one time he decided to change after one of his close friends was hacked to death because of drugs.
Edward is now transformed, born again christian and hopes to become a celebrated artist. He hopes to inspire many people going through same orderal like his.
He has forgiven his family who abandoned him and hopes to meet them again.
